Project Overview
CTX(Cruise terminal X) is a concept design for Port of Miami Terminal B. In this project, instead of using traditional hand sketches, the concept of 'form sketching' was applied. Before setting the theme of a cruise terminal, the focus was on discovering sculptural beauty and harmony within space. Through an experimental process of transforming forms born out of serendipity into actual architecture, the design emerged as a unique and innovative interpretation of the terminal's function and identity.
experiment

Clay form experiment

This is an experiment to explore organic yet aesthetic forms of sculpture using highly accessible clay.

Paper form experiment

This is an experiment to distinguish between dominant and subordinate elements through scale and form to create spatial balance.
Finalizing

Foam sketching

Using the forms derived from the previous two mediums, I further developed them by carving foam. The organic and fluid curves evoke the streamlined shape of a cruise.

3D transforming

The form created in the previous process was redesigned using 3D software and optimized to suit real-world conditions.
Location

GIS-based design

The CTX was designed based on GIS data of the Port of Miami and its surroundings, ensuring harmony with the environment and an appropriate scale for its context
