Project Overview
This project involves designing an exhibition space based on three themes: Architect, Element, and Animal. The design must align with a specified location and concept. Additionally, it requires extensive design skills and passion, covering areas such as accessibility, visitor flow, exhibition experience, graphics, and architecture.
My Contributions
In the Element team project, I was responsible for planning both the CAD design and the concept. For the Architect and Animal exhibitions, which were individual projects, I was involved in all aspects of concept development and design decisions.

Contents

1. Architect

An exhibition that focuses on a single architect, providing comprehensive information about their work and style.

2. Element

An exhibition that provides information about each randomly selected element.
- Team project

3. Animal

An exhibition that selects one animal and effectively provides information about it through detailed research.
Architect

Frank Gehry exhibition

The architect exhibition embodies the unique deconstructivist style of architect Frank Gehry. The entire exhibition space reflects his identity well, and visitors are captivated by his architectural style through this display. It is located within a small park on S Water St.

Concept model

The initial concept was created on a smaller scale. However, considering Frank Gehry's style, which primarily employs abstract, simplistic, and deconstructivist building facades, it was decided that the exhibition content should be placed inside the structure.

Materials and crafting

The design was continuously adjusted to better capture Frank Gehry's style within the limited dimensions of an 18x18x18" cube while maximizing internal volume efficiency. Additionally, Bristol paper was primarily used to depict the beautiful curves of the building.

Reflecting abstract expression

In the area facing the Providence River, translucent vertical patterned plastic material was used instead of fully transparent material. This allows visitors to experience an abstract transformation of the landscape when viewing it from inside, reflecting Frank Gehry's abstract expression style effectively.

Element

Elemental exhibition

This exhibition, created by a team of three, focuses on the elements Hydrogen, Sulfur, and Molybdenum. Each element's characteristics are showcased on different floors, beautifully integrating both informative displays and architectural elegance.

Scale model validation

We validated the idea by placing a model made to the same scale as the actual space (½" = 1') in the area between RISD Auditorium and Market House.
Animal

Ostrich exhibition

The exhibition, titled "Journey into Ostrich Country," is designed across two floors. The main feature is a ramp that slopes gently around the space in a 180-degree arc, simulating the open savannah where ostriches live. As visitors walk along this ramp, they learn more about ostriches. At the end of the exhibition, the Skyview offers a special vantage point to observe ostriches.

Signage sketches

The signage was designed based on the size of the space, the type of exhibition, and the flow of movement. Through various signage designs, visitors can interact more effectively with the exhibition.

Floor plan

The circulation path was designed to allow visitors to explore the exhibition space smoothly and without monotony considering movement of visitors.

Structural design for space utilization

To minimize the visibility of internal structural elements, a unique design was attempted by extending support structures outside the building. This ensured robustness to uphold a massive ramp encompassing the entire exhibition space.
